Information we handle

When you create an account, TrainTrackr stores your name, email address, verification state, and session records. Member features store saved routes, private railfan spots, in-app alerts, and a record of verified Pro access.

If you choose to contribute, TrainTrackr stores your train sightings, discussion posts and replies, and community-location suggestions. A sighting can include the place name, date and time, optional coordinates, and an optional photo. Community sighting records are visible to other visitors. Community locations and discussions are available to signed-in Pro members.

• Location permission is requested only after you choose a location feature. Coordinates you enter for a public sighting or community location are part of that contribution.
• Private saved spots are tied to your account and are not shown in the public community list.
• Photos are uploaded to the storage provider used by TrainTrackr. If you request AI identification, the selected image is sent to the AI service for analysis.

Use and sharing

We use account and contribution data to provide the directory, account security, community features, moderation, account support, and purchase-entitlement checks. We do not describe operator data as live train tracking or operator-verified information.

TrainTrackr uses its hosting, storage, email, authentication, AI, and app-store providers to operate the service. Those providers process information under their own service terms. Store payments are handled by Apple or Google; TrainTrackr receives purchase verification data needed to grant or remove Pro access.

Retention and account deletion

Account information and account-linked app records are retained while the account is active. You can start deletion from Profile → Delete account in the app or follow the web instructions on the Account Deletion page. The deletion handler removes saved routes, private spots, alerts, purchase entitlement records, authored discussions and replies, submitted community locations, account-linked sightings, and their uploaded photos.

Historical sightings created before author attribution was added have no account owner and remain as anonymous community records. Operational backup retention periods are controlled by the hosting platform and must be confirmed by the owner before publication.

Children, security, and contact

The service is not designed for children under 13. The owner should confirm the intended age group and store rating before release. We use account authentication and server-side access checks for private account data, but no internet service can promise absolute security.
